# git check-mailmap

- Look up the canonical name associated with an email address:

`git check-mailmap {{email@example.com}}`

- Use the specified mailmap file in addition to the defaults:

`git check-mailmap --mailmap-file {{path/to/file}} {{email@example.com}}`
